Education & Research

Education and Research Committee is dedicated to developing and improving its RESOURCE LIBRARY, in order to provide educational materials related to sport medicine and sport science and act as an information resource centre for the athletes of Manitoba. The Resource Library is located outside the SMCM office.

The SMCM has also developed a SPEAKER'S BUREAU of qualified medical, paramedical and sport science professionals with an interest in presenting on a variety of topics. Topics available include sport nutrition, sport psychology, drug testing, drug and supplement use, injury prevention and management, strength training, conditioning, concussion in sport, helmet safety and other topics on request. The presentations can be tailored to any age group or experience level. If you would like to request a speaker, please follow this link to our request form. Please allow at least one month advance notice.

The SMCM Annual Scholarship Award is given in recognition for Outstanding Academic and Volunteer Achievement in a Sport Medicine Related Field. It is awarded in May / June of each year to a student in a sport medicine or sport science related field. Criteria for the award are based on references, scholastic achievement, volunteer activity, extra curricular activities related to sport medicine and science.
