HydrationProper hydration leads to improved performance and avoidance of problems requiring medical attention.
Athletes lose more competitions by not drinking enough water than any other nutritional cause. Water is very important and drinking adequate amounts is essential for optimal athletic performance. Water is the main component of sweat, which is your body’s method of cooling, so it is important to replace this water in order to avoid unnecessary fatigue and potentially life-threatening conditions. For some athletes, it is difficult to drink water during or close to exercise, therefore it is important to practice drinking water during your training so that it won’t affect your performance during competition. The average person requires 2 litres (8 cups) of water each day, during competition or training you will require more.
